May 6th, 2007

Learn Italian with Culture Shot! Today we’ll talk about one of the most spectacular events in Italy: Il Palio di Siena! Kane from England sent us a nice email a few days ago - in the email, Kane says “every year I go to Siena to see il Palio, and I feel it is one of the most spectacular medieval traditions in Italy. I also believe it would be a very interesting podcast for all your listeners…” — Right on, Kane! — Today we’re telling a story about this great tradition, and a curiosity about it that you may not know. Enjoy!

May 7th, 2007 at 10:07 pmThank you Jane & Massimo - I’ve enjoyed this episode - I love the Palio and I get to watch it on TV every year - I did not know about the “third palio” - I also found the grammar part very useful - especially the “tutti” as subject part. Grazie!

May 8th, 2007 at 8:44 amI went to see the Palio a few years ago: it was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had. Like Massimo, says, sounds, colors, the excitement, all make you think you are back to another era. This episode brought back memories of that day… thanks!
