43. Are You Ready To Order? (Intermediate)
July 8th, 2007

In today’s episode we’ll talk about Italian food and restaurants! Italy is not only famous for its history and its artistic masterpieces, but also and most of all for its food: first class dishes and delicious desserts make Italian cuisine one of the best cuisines in the world. We are going to show a classic Italian four course meal - take it as recommendation from your favorite chefs, Jane and Massimo! This is some of the food you absolutely must try if you ever go to Italy, or if you go to a good Italian restaurant anywhere in the world, for that matter. Buon Appetito!

July 9th, 2007 at 11:57 amThanks for this great episode - now I feel ready to go to Italy and enjoy some great meals!
Question: what about tipping? Should I tip the waiter? I heard service is included with the check.

July 9th, 2007 at 12:11 pmAngela, both “il servizio” (service charge) and “il coperto” (cover charge) are usually included in “il conto” (check).
Gratuity is included in the bill, and extra tipping is not necessary. However, if the service is very good and you are satisfied, leave your waiter a little extra — you’ll make him or her very happy!

I was expecting the supplementary vocabulary to list the 4 course meal you talked about. Can you provide a written version of that delicious sounding 4 course meal?
