Helping Jennifer - Aiutando Jennifer

Learn Intermediate Level Italian with Podcasts! Jennifer, a student of Italian coming from Australia, has the opportunity to practice her Italian with Giovanni, a nice young gentleman that is trying to help her out. Today Professor Frison (aka Jane) will explain the grammar rule that in English is called “present perfect continuous”, the one we use to show that something started in the past and has continued up until now. Finally, we’ll wish “buona fortuna” to Jennifer, a very smart young lady that a year ago became one of the first LearnItalianPod subscribers - and after a few months of practice she felt she was ready to go to Italy to spend a year there studying Italian - and she’s doing it!

ciao:

In the printout, the sentence ‘I’ve been studying Italian for one year’ is written as ‘Io studio italiano da un anno’. Why didn’t you use ‘l’italiano’? You also use use the same construction in the last sentence…(Io studio inglese de tre anni…).

Marvin, you could use “l’italiano” or “l’inglese” as well (that is, with the article) - less common, but equally correct.
