November 16th, 2006 at 8:11 amCiao Jane, ciao Massimo!
Grazie per questo sito internet, e per fantastiche lezioni!
I’m a hungarian guy, and I feel happy, that at least last year I’ve decided to learn Italian, and I feel very happy ’cause I’ve found your site.
I’am not a native english speaker, maybe that is why I feel sometimes that there is too much english in your lessions.
I would vote for more italian.
Perhaps a question. How would you say in Italian: “and remember: 5 minutes a day can make the difference”?
a presto, vostro Gabor

April 5th, 2007 at 7:23 pmCiao Jane e Massimo,
Would you explain why “fine settimana” is masculine?
Grazie mille
LearnItalianPod.com Says:
April 5th, 2007 at 7:32 pm“Fine settimana” comes from the English “week-end”, and it is considered a unique word of male gender. So Italians say “il fine settimana”, “buon fine settimana”, and so on. The female form “la fine settimana” is not wrong – it’s just used a lot less.

February 6th, 2008 at 3:58 amCiao,
I need some help in the pronunciation of ‘sciare’. Your pronunciation sounds like ‘shee àh reh’. But in a pronunciation chart I have the letters ‘scia’ have the phonetic symbol ‘shah’. And so ‘sciare’ would be pronounced ‘shàh re’. Could you please clarify?
LearnItalianPod.com Says:
February 6th, 2008 at 10:51 pmMarvin, the way it sounds on the lesson: ’shee àh reh’ is correct – the letter “i” (sound “e” in English) must be pronounced when saying the word “sciare”.

February 7th, 2008 at 4:52 amCiao Jane è Massimo,
I now realize that in order for me to really know how to pronounce words with the appropriate accents I need a good dictionary that provides that type of information. Today I went out and bought the ‘new’ Oxford Paravia Italian Dictionary (2nd edition)….and when I looked up ‘sciare’ it was just as you had pronounced it. Keep up the good work!! Grazie!!

August 24th, 2008 at 3:21 pmOne thing for sure is my pronunciation is much better thanks to five minutes a day. I really like to be able to read the lessons after listening. This program has been terrific. If anything I will be able to understand much more. Thank you!
