28. What A Figuraccia! (Intermediate)

Learn Italian Language with Podcasts! Today we are going to listen to a dialogue between Renzo e Lucia while in Rome, inside “la famosa Cappella Sistina” (the famous Sistine Chapel). Thanks to Renzo, who thinks “Il Giudizio Universale” (The Last Judgement) is… a sculpture (ouch!), we’ll learn the popular Italian expression “fare una figuraccia” (to make a fool of oneself), and some art related words like “scultura” (sculpture), and “affresco” (wall painting). Let’s review and practice how to describe people and actions, and how to use not-so-easy to grasp sentences like “si sono conosciuti” (they met each other) and “si sono innamorati” (they fell in love).
