Here’s a true, funny story that happened to one of Jane’s friends some time ago at the beach. In this episode we’ll use some long sentences: we’ll learn and practice some useful words, like “quando” (when), “cosi’” (so), “mentre” (while), “dopo” (after), “prima” (before), that we can use to connect short sentences and build longer ones.

What a great site! I just stumbled on it from a link from Metafilter. If I had known of it when I was learning Italian 15 years ago (!!!) I think my progress would have been quite alot easier.
It is a rocky ascent we make when we learn language-but the learning of it widens the band-width of your mind. I am thouroughly convinced of that.
I wont expatiate too much here/now, but I may come back around now and again.
If you are like me, you are learning this language by yourself and are speaking it without a saftey net.
I studied it for 2 years, then dove off the deep end and went and lived over there.
There is NO BETTER teacher than neccesity. Italian is now hardwired in my brain.
Well, thats enough for now.

Need some help regarding the suffix with ‘pantaloni’. Why ‘cini’(pantaloncini) and not ‘ini’ (pantalonini)? The 3 non-plural suffixes for ‘littleness’ or ’smallness’ that I know are ino/ina, etto/etta/ and ello/ella. Can I assume the plural forms would be ini/ine, etti/ette and elli/elle?

Marvin, you are correct regarding the plural forms. The word “pantaloncini” is an exception.

hi i just want to ask about this scentence (ha visto galleggiare il suo portafoglio) why we didnt say instead (ha visto il suo portafoglio galleggiare)?

Rana, you could have said both “ha visto galleggiare il suo portafoglio” and “ha visto il suo portafoglio galleggiare”.
